Anyone else watching GNW through iTunes?
Posted: 30/04/2010 21:03

I have been watching GNW through iTunes, partly due to timing and partly due to simply having a huge digital media collection and I like watching them again later. But has anyone else noticed odd inconsistencies with episode releases? And what exactly gets downloaded?
I purchased season 2, which includes 12 episodes (34 through to 45), but only 10 actually download. Episodes 43 and 44 are not in my list and checking for downloads offers nothing new. That might just be an iTunes issue, and I’ll get their support team to fix it, just wondered if others had the same problem.

Season 3 has a couple missing now as well though. Episode 8, which was a best of from what I can see, and Episode 11. The best of I’m guessing contains footage that may be outside their licencing agreements and couldn’t be included in iTunes, but it’s odd to exclude it and not let subscribers know why. Anyone who paid for episodes no doubt would like to have a heads up on such things either before we click that ‘buy’ button or at least an FYI about its absence. Anything special about Episode 11 I should know? So far it’s not in iTunes, and I’m just wondering if I should raise that in the support ticket.

How are other iTunes users fairing in general?

The 'best of' episodes are generally just fillers for weeks when everyone involved is kinda busy, like during the melbourne comedy festival before they film the episodes in the town hall. The only new thing you'll see in that is the quick 'hey, look, this was funny, it's from blahblah weeks ago' before some of the clips, so they probably didn't deem it worthy of being paid for all over again, since you'll already have it...

Episode 11 just started downloading, so that seems to have resolved my concern for this season, given I think we agree that episode 8 is meant to be missing.

I'll just have to put that support request in and see what happens with the older episodes. Given that I work in the IT area, I know what the room on the other end is like, so it depends on how much caffeine is going around at the time. Though I'm sure we can get any GNW content issues resolved if we send the support staff some quality coffees.

Well this thread can fade into obscurity now. Apple got back to me in a matter of hours about the missing episodes, and now I have them. It could be that their tech support for iTunes is on the up and up. Anyone that has had unresolved issues in the past may like to poke them again.
